Read Bill Hybles

May 18, 2009

I just finished two books by world renound pastor and leadership teacher, Bill Hybels and highly recommend them both. The first titled Holy Discontent: Fueling the Fire that Ignites Personal Vision is a short 150 pages of strategicly asked questions and real life examples of passion. Often in these books the illustrations are so far removed from the readers experiences that they don’t relate well. The chapter on Bono (6), consistant references to Popeye and loads of personal experiences make it easy to read quote from and share with all ages. The second book titled Just Walk Across The Room: Simple Steps Pointing People To Faith is a former award winning book of the year for good reason. In short is is the best book on evangelism I have read in the last decade. It avoids the pitfalls of munipulation, guilt motivation or pure inspiring story fluff and invests in both the attitude refinments and skill sets necessary to develope both a heart for and a life style that promotes evangelism. The included study questions a big value added. Grabb both of these books and you will see why people still rush to sit under Bill’s ministry every weekend.
