When It’s Time For A Review….

September 17, 2009

With every passing year the distance grows between our educational degrees in the past and our day to day ministry in the present. The human mind has an astonishing ability to assume knowledge and memory of information not currently accessable, in short we forget:)
That is why the book THE PORTABLE SEMINARY edited by David Horton, published by Bethany House. This massive 700 page volume is an overviw of the entire standard curriculum of a masters of divinity degree. The line up of authors lined up to present chapters is impressive and overall well known and competent. The articles on philosophy are especially good as is the section on missiology. The glossery in the back was worth the cost of the book alone. This book would have value to those who want a brief overview of theological/Biblical/ministry subjects or someone considering masters level theological education and who wants a jump start or a diagnosis of areas that will need special attention to master. I learned from this read” Never understamate my own ability to forget what I know’
