Revelation: Four Views A Parallel Commentary

January 26, 2011

As a professor who teaches theology to a wide range of students from a variety of denominations and Christian traditions. It is sometimes difficult to help them wrap thier minds around the major views of eschatology when it comes to how the different schools of thought interpret the same text of Scripture. That is why I am so excited about finding Revelation:four Views A Parallel Commentary edited by Steve Gregg published by Thomas Nelson. It combines in a parallel format the four most popular ways to explain passages in the book of Revelation. No single scholar comments on every passage but a wide spectrum of commentators provide a diverse perspective even within the same basic interprative school, The key views are organized under the following headings, Historicist, Preterist, Futurist and Spiritual. These terms may not be the traditional tags but they are clearly defined and I found them very useful. This is a great reference work for a Bible student who wants to explore the whole spectrum of Christian thought on a most wonderful and apocalyptic book which reveales Christ.
